The second issue of NYM centred around one powerful theme — human connection. Building on the success of the first edition, NYM 2 brought together a diverse group of artists discovered through social media, each offering their own creative expression of how people connect, communicate, and share emotion.

My role was to help bring this concept to life through custom typography and handcrafted design elements. Using my background in graphic design and sign writing, I created visual language that felt raw, personal, and tactile — echoing the imperfections and warmth of human relationships.

The creative process involved:

Hand-painted lettering inspired by traditional sign writing techniques

Scans from TV screens to introduce texture and distortion, symbolising digital connections

Layered real-world textures that grounded the visuals in authenticity

Clean, modern layouts to frame the handcrafted elements in a contemporary way

The result was a visually rich and emotionally resonant edition, blending analogue craft with digital precision to celebrate the art of human connection in a disconnected world.
